Sad news for OSGKC – The death of Ron Daly, Society member and former OSGKC President

I’m very sorry to have to announce that Ron Daly passed away on Tuesday.  Ron was recovering from recent cancer surgery, but suffered an embolism from a blood clot that formed after the surgery.  At Ron’s request, there was no memorial service.  Anyone who wishes to send condolences to the Daly family may send them to Ron’s  address, 23660 W. 207^th Street, Spring Hill, KS 66083.

Ron was a long-time, active member of OSGKC.  He served as President in 2000-2001, and chaired several society committees through the years.   He frequently volunteered to help with OSGKC activities, especially with our exhibits and orchid shows.  We will all miss Ron, and also his cattleyas, dendrobiums and phals that frequently graced the show tables at our meetings.

The Daly family has donated Ron’s entire orchid collection and orchid supplies to OSGKC.  We will provide further information about this donation at our January meeting.
